8KSVIP is a research consortium that includes intoPIX (Belgium), Cesnet (Czech Republic), Image Matters (Belgium) and AV Media (Czech Republic) working on simplifying the transition to 8K UHDTV2.
The main goal of the project is to design, develop and demonstrate in real-scenarios an enabling technology for new distributed applications using real-time sharing of 8K video signals. The project enables to envision several use cases for broadcast studios, which are not possible with current technology. It provide the needed bridges to interface the broadcast equipment to 8K with both video over IP network and Serial Digital Interfaces (SDI).
The disruptive 8K IP/SDI solutions are flexible and scalable, being implemented both in software for off the shelf interface boards and in FPGA circuits enabling to minimize latency and maximize power efficiency
intoPIX develops first 8K TICO cores for Xilinx and Intel FPGAs
IBC 2017 : NHK (in Japan) adopts the 8K TICO technology that are used in the VICO-8 , a device that enables to carry full 8K60P over a single 12G-SDI cable, to simplify the 8K management
"Real-time TICO compression has been demonstrated at 4K resolution with hardware prototypes at a CESNET booth at the exhibition hall of the TNC17 Networking Conference in Linz, Austria on May 29 - June 1. The prototypes are a proof-of-concept hardware towards a future 8K system under development in the 8KSVIP project."
NAB 2018 : NHK (in Japan) Lab evaluated the lossless quality and microsecond latency of the 8K60P 422 10bit TICO technology to carry full 8K over a single 10GbE cable, to simplify the 8K management in Studio over IP with 5:1 compression.
"TICO technology has been successfully used to implement a large international cultural event connecting musicians and audiences in two venues in Prague and Bratislava. The artists were performing together in a church in Prague (Prague Crosroads) and in the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, creating a joint performance for audiences in both cities.
A concert named "A Tribute to the Brave" was held on the occasion of the
2018 award of the Václav Havel Human Rights Prize. The concert was organized in collaboration of CESNET, the Václav Havel Library, the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
The concert was also distributed live by Czech Television."
interBEE 2018 : FInal DEMO in November :
